Selection of vineyards situated on the Villafrancien terraces of St Marcel d’Ardèche, on the hills of Avignon and Roquemaure – Sand fromthe "Aigues" valley – and layered stones on slopes fromthe "Plan de Dieu". Destemming – crushing – cold pre-fermentation maceration (12 C) during 4 days –temperatures at 27/28 C during maceration and long vatting of 25 days on Grenache and 35 days for the Syrah & Mourvèdre – 2 times of racking during fermentation and light pumping over – punching down the cap duringmaceration – devatting upon tasting.
Deep cherry burlat coulourwith beautiful purple tints, a sign of its freshness. The nose is very expressive , dominant with spice (cinnamon) and garrigue (wild scrubs) and ample fruit which is revealed after the first approach (prune, cherry, blackberry). Followed by aromas such as bitumen, tobacco, orange peel, linking it all harmoniously. Classic characteristics in the mouth true to the Ogier reds. Silky and full,with a permanent freshness, the tannic structure is slightly less marked on the 2011 vintage. A superb spicy red fruit final.
